Traders in Purple begin their work

16 June 2023

Traders In Purple has been contracted by the NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) to develop the Humphries Precinct of the Bonnyrigg Newleaf renewal project.

Map of Bonnyrigg showing precinct boundariesConstruction works on Stage 7B, which is situated off Bean Crescent and Shoemaker Street, have commenced. Stage 10–11 (Area 1 – shown as orange on the map, left) is anticipated to start the end of this year and then, next year, stages 8 and 9 will begin (Area 2 – highlighted yellow on the map).

Traders in Purple will work with private homeowners who still reside in these areas to ensure they are impacted as little as possible – this includes Newleaf Parade staying open as construction is underway.

There will be 65 new social housing homes built in the Humphries Precinct (all will be managed by St George Community Housing), with five to be constructed during stage 7B. The homes in 7B are expected to be finished mid-2024.

As well as building this social housing, Traders In Purple will manage the sale of housing lots to the private market. There will be 210 land lots for sale, plus more than 9000m² of public park.

Ensuring there is as little disruption as possible to surrounding streets and neighbours is a key priority for Traders In Purple. If you have any questions about upcoming works, call SGCH on 1800 573 370.

What’s next?

The next stages of the Bonnyrigg Estate renewal project are stages 12 and 13 (Area 3 – highlighted in purple on the map, above right) and they are located off Bonnyrigg Avenue and close to the side of Bonnyrigg Plaza.

Apartment buildings will be constructed on these sites and, because they take a little longer to design and build, work on these homes is not expected to start until 2025/26. The apartments will be for social housing and for private sale. SGCH will work closely with residents who need to relocate when the planning phase is finalised.
