This month we had a chat to one of the Heads Of in our Customers team, Kylie Lindsay.
How long have you worked for SGCH and what did you do before coming here?
I joined SGCH in September 2021, just as the organisation was implementing the two-region structure. Previously, I worked at the Women’s Housing Company and Wesley Mission Community Housing.
What is your role at SGCH?
I am the Head of Metro North East Sydney Region. Our Metro North East regional team, made up of about 50 staff, delivers services for approximately 3,500 tenancies across greater Sydney, operating from our Redfern and St Leonards offices.
The Metro North East regional team is made up of smaller specialist groups including Sustainable Tenancies, Housing Pathways, Income Management, Communities Place and Partnerships, and our Business Support Team, and my role is to lead and support them.
What do you most enjoy about this role?
Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, so I strive to build a culture of respect, fairness and authenticity, and I really enjoy supporting and guiding our team members to build their knowledge, skills, and capabilities through training and coaching, so they can deliver high quality and consistent services to our customers.
What type of things are you working on at the moment?
One exciting project is about to deliver some much-needed housing in a high demand area. We are developing a small building in Potts Point which will provide affordable housing for 15 households by the end of August.
Our team is currently involved in several process improvement projects to streamline the way we do our administrative tasks so we can spend more quality time interacting with our customers. Some examples include our Home Visit process, our End of Tenancy process, and the way we capture and report data from our systems.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
My household has two standard groodles (poodle X golden retriever) who are the centre of our home. They are twins, about two and a half years old, and they provide plenty of unconditional love. Taking them for bushwalks in our neighbourhood is a relaxing way to spend our weekends out in nature.
