SGCH has welcomed the announcement that the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) has majority support in the Senate as a momentous occasion in the nation’s social history.
Scott Langford, Group Chief Executive of Tier-1 community housing provider SGCH, acknowledged the work of all political parties to progress the legislation that will deliver 30,000 homes to people in the most need.
“On behalf of SGCH I applaud the Government and all parties for coming to an agreement that will unlock the capital to create more homes for those who need them,” Mr Langford said.
“This is the culmination of expert advice from a broad collection of housing experts and peak bodies. Progressive legislation such as this is game changing.
“We know there is sufficient appetite for institutional investors to support social and affordable housing. Community housing providers, such as SGCH, are well-positioned to bring together capital and capability through great partnerships.
“We look forward to getting more detail on the agreement and getting on with the job.’’
SGCH will continue to play a lead role working with the governments and the private sector to maximise the delivery of social and affordable housing.
