We congratulate Australian Labor and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on winning the federal election. We welcome and look forward to the implementation of a housing agenda that includes more social and affordable housing and a shared equity scheme amongst other policy initiatives announced during the campaign.

We thank the former Morrison government for the establishment and expansion of the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation and the transformational role this has played in enabling community housing providers across the nation to access lower cost financing and deliver more for their customers.

On a powerful day of change, it was inspiring to hear the new Prime Minister speak to his lived experience and say “And I hope there are families in public housing watching this tonight. Because I want every parent to be able to tell their child no matter where you live or where you come from, in Australia the doors of opportunity are open to us all.”
