Riverwood
More than 100 customers gathered to celebrate the end of the year. The heat was high on the day, but so were spirits.
There were lots of games and activities for kids, including a jumping castle, face painting and slushies (required). The ROAR group had the barbecue pumping and the free popcorn was extremely well received.
We were thrilled to host stalls from our partner organisations St Johns Ambulance, 3 Bridges, Riverwood Library and South West Sydney Local Health District, who kindly offered free medical consultations to customers who attended.
The Residents Organisation at Riverwood (ROAR) ran an excellent barbecue and Club Rivers generously offered finanical support for this event.
Local MP David Coleman dropped in, as did another special guest in a red suit… heartfelt thanks go to all the team members who came along to assist on the day. You made the event really successful and the Connecting Communities team is extremely grateful.
Bonnyrigg
130 customers, stakeholders and VIPs attended the annual Community Reference Group end-of-year lunch in the new Hub@Bonnyrigg Dhanawi community centre.
There was a fantastic feel to the event as our partner organisations and members of various SGCH tenant groups mingled and chatted.
The event was opened by the Marrabang Wagagee dance troupe from Bonnyrigg Public School – to much applause! Many members of our Community Reference Group and language groups were in attendance and expressed their appreciation.
Homes NSW brought a group from Waterloo along, so they could see what a well-managed estate-renewal project can look like. We received this excellent feedback from them: “Thanks so much for the event in Bonnyrigg. Please pass on the Waterloo group’s appreciation. We had 16 tenants attend. Our tour around was very useful in showing how the redevelopment is bringing huge change to the estate.”
Kudos to the Connecting Communities team, who went above and beyond to make this a very enjoyable and smooth-running event.
Campbelltown
We held a BBQ sausage sizzle at Burns Road Campbelltown for an end of year celebration for Burns Road Local Tenant Group.
It was great having Tanya Dimic and Samantha Rapley come along – the customers really appreciated and enjoyed meeting their new tenancy manager Samantha.
The group were all appreciative of the effort that was made in hosting the BBQ, with every customer in attendance thanking staff for their efforts.
Our Christmas themed prize hamper giveaway was well received, with one customer saying, “whoever wins the hamper deserves it, it’s Christmas”.
Quite a few customers voiced that they would spend Christmas alone, which is why they appreciated us coming along. One customer said, “Of course I’m having a sausage sizzle, you got me out of bed this morning”.
North Parramatta
We held 33-35 Webb Street Local Tenant Groups last meeting for 2024 and enjoyed a Christmas morning tea.
All were gifted a Christmas coffee mug to show appreciation for their continual efforts throughout the year – they were all so grateful, our customer Jenny said “This is great, thank you so much”.
We all shared our Christmas plans and reflected on what the group had achieved and gotten involved in throughout the year.
It was lovely to see neighbours Coral and Jenny decorated their own Christmas tree in the common area of the block for all to enjoy.
