Changes to SGCH’s executive leadership
SGCH announced today that Group CEO Scott Langford has accepted an offer to become Housing Australia’s next CEO and will step down from SGCH. Joe Achmar will be appointed as Acting Group CEO.
Mr Langford has served as SGCH Group CEO for the past eight and a half years.
The Board thanked Mr Langford for his many years of excellent service to the organisation.
“Scott leaves a legacy of a strong, highly capable team, healthy organisational culture, and clear strategy. The Board is grateful for his service, leadership and friendship. We wish Scott well in this exciting new role. Housing Australia is set to play an important role in helping more Australians access safe and affordable housing, and this is a purpose we at SGCH share,” SGCH Group Chair Karen Orvad said.
“Scott has led SGCH through a considerable strategic evolution while remaining focused on the reason we exist — to connect people and communities to opportunity by providing safe, sustainable and affordable housing. He has driven innovation throughout the organisation and secured key partnerships with institutions such as Lighthouse Infrastructure and AXA IM Alts. This appointment recognises these significant achievements,” Ms Orvad said.
Group Chief Financial Officer Joe Achmar will serve as Acting Group CEO while the Board undertakes a recruitment process to appoint a permanent CEO.
“Joe has been integral to developing and executing SGCH’s strategy and brings significant finance and executive leadership experience to the Acting role. Planning for potential leadership changes is critical for any organisation. SGCH has invested significantly in its leadership team and organisational capability to ensure smooth transitions. Our succession plans are well-developed. Interim leadership will ensure the transition will not affect our strategy and operations,” Ms Orvad said.
“Our primary focus remains on providing excellent services to customers and bringing together capital and capability to grow our impact.”
“The Board is commencing a recruitment process that will consider internal and external candidates. Identifying a CEO who embodies SGCH’s values and shares our vision of great places, thriving people, connected communities will be paramount,” Ms Orvad said.
“SGCH’s Board is working through a plan to ensure appropriate governance and protocols for managing the transition and a continued strong working relationship with Housing Australia.”
Reflecting on his time with SGCH, Mr Langford emphasised his appreciation for the team’s dedication and expertise, which has produced innovations that are impacting the housing system for the benefit of people and communities.
“I am immensely proud of the SGCH team. Seeing the impact of our work has been a great motivator for me every day. I have complete confidence that, together with our partners, the team will continue to deliver for the customers and communities we serve.”
“I will always be grateful to our customers, team members, directors and partners for entrusting me with — and supporting me in — my role as Group CEO,” Mr Langford said.
