In June this year Traders in Purple, the project developers, started construction of the Stage 7B subdivision that will create 19 new lots.
The big stockpile of material left over from earlier stages was the first thing that the contractors removed to make way for the subdivision. Since then, roadworks have started to take shape and when finished will join up the two parts of Bean Cres and extend Raymond Street to link Shoemaker Street to Bean Cres
Traders in Purple are continuing to liaise with homeowners and tenants to make sure that they are impacted as little as possible by the new work. These roadworks are expected to finish in November / December this year. Construction of the 5 new social homes will start after the roadworks are finished.
The homes are expected to be finished mid 2024 ready for people to move in.
All of the old social homes have been demolished and the site mowed and fenced. As in stage 7B Traders in Purple will work with private home owners to ensure there is as little impact as possible, including keeping Newleaf Parade open during construction. Roadworks on this stage will begin after Stage 7B roadworks are done.
LAHC is continuing to liaise with Council on the development application for Stages 12/13 which is adjacent to the Bonnyrigg Plaza. SGCH will work closely with residents who need to be relocated when the planning phase is finalised.
Apartment buildings will be constructed on these sites and, because they take a little longer to design and build, work on these homes is not expected to start until 2025/26. The apartments will be for social housing and for private sale. Soon LAHC and SGCH will be asking for feedback from tenants of the new homes in stages 6 and 7 so that we can ensure that the liveability of new social homes continues to improve.
What’s next?
LAHC is continuing to liaise with Council on the development application for Stages 12/13. Once finalised, SGCH will work closely with residents who need to be relocated when the planning phase is complete and the apartment buildings start the construction phase.
Due to the more complex design and build process, work on these apartments is not expected to start until 2025/26. The apartments will be for social housing and for private sale. LAHC and SGCH will be asking for feedback from tenants at the new apartments from Stages 6 and 7 so that we can ensure the liveability of new social homes continues to improve.
